I had the opportunity to meet Barbara Cipperly this weekend (9/3/2017), the widow of John Cipperly. John passed away on December 31, 2013, at his home in La Crescenta. He was born on August 2, 1928, in Glendale, California.

I am in the process of writing his biography with Barbara’s help to honor him as one of our founding members. He graduated college as a chemist and served in the Navy as an officer in the Korean War. John worked at the Rocketdyne Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL) for a time and was a groundwater hydrologist for the states of California and Alaska until he retired. He was an avid painter and camper in his retirement.

Barbara was kind enough to donate newsletters and other rocketry publications from John’s collection to the Reaction Research Society. The RRS is thankful to the Cipperlys.
